How to track all Application and package installs RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to know how many installs have been performed by SCCM 2012 R2?

Management is wanting a report that gives them a total # of installs since we set the system up last year.

The only report I found would give me a total install count, but it was based on current deployments only.

Or is there a database record # that would give me some idea?

    Thanks for your help.

  • There is no way to tell what was installed by ConfigMgr (compared to manual install for example).

  • I do not know if you are still interested but CM writes every install it executes to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\Mobile Client\Software Distribution\Execution History\System

Beneath this key you will find reg keys named with the application/package ID's of executed software.  Drilling down you will find String Values with specifics about each executed app/package including start time/date, whether it was successful or if it failed and a couple of others (see screenshot)

There is also a .ps1 written by pdxcat on github that will mine this for you: get-executionhistory.ps1

You can tweak the output to provide this:

True, but only for packages / programs. Applications are not listed there.
