Workflow Activity Picker stopt showing Tools4FIM Function Evaluator ( a custom Activity Information Configuration) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using the Tools4FIM function Evaluator for data and Now() functions. The environment is FIM 2010 RTM with Update-2. I have similar infrastructure for Test, Acceptance and Production. A few days ago i discovered that the Workflows in Production dont show the details any more. The Activities tab states that: "Caution: "T4fim.Function.Evaluator.WorkflowPart".  This activity has no correspondent user interface in the web portal." I re-installed the Tools4FIM Function Evaluator but it did not help. I also upgraded the Tools4FIM Function Evaluator to the last version. That didn't help too. The strange thing is that it works fine in Test and Acceptance. Aside from that i have another Activity Information Configuration working which runs PowerShell activities through workflows. That works fine. The FIM Function Evaluator is also working fine.

  • Hallo,

The problem is solved, but I don't know why. I copied the content of C:\FIMProject from the Acceptace to the Production environment (and the new DLL into .\Service and the GAC) and recreated the Activity. To my big surprise the Activity starts to work again. I could choose and update the T4FIM Function Evaluator. So we thought that the DLL might be corrupt. So we digged it up from the recycle bin. Then we created a MD5 hash from both DLLs and compared them. The hashes were equal. Then i recreated the Activity as described before with the old DLL. It still works...

To eliminate any doubts. I repeat that i recreated the activity several times before, together with another consultant, using 4 eyes... So I close out human error.

  • Have you run some modifications recently? Have you checked activity registration information for this activity if it is OK and has same value for activity type as in Tools4Fim manual (or same as in your test environment)? Is this a single box FIM installation or multiple servers?

  • Hallo Tomasz, Here is some extra info and answers for you

    • No recent modifications were made
    • The values are checked over and over, i followed the installation manual.
    • The server host the Service and the Portal roles.

Above all, it worked in the beginning. Now it stopped and i can't make it work. Also not by uninstalling and re-installing the activity.

  • Hi Tomasz, not seen this problem before. One thing to check is that text strings in the AIC totally correct. FIM is very unforgiving, even a difference in case can make it stop working.

Have you tried to create a new workflow? Do you get the same error of is the component missing from the available list?

None of this of cause explains why you get the error if nothing has changed in your system.

  • Guy,

I have run into the same issue. I've tried what you suggested with no luck. Any other insight would be great.

    Thanks

  • I gave up this function evaluator. It stopped too many time without a visible reason. If you can, use MIMWAL. If not, the coldplex powershell activity is a powerfull tool.

  • Hi,

Usually it's a combi of registering the DLL, placing the files in c:\project, giving permissions to the FIMService account and creating the Activity Information in the portal. The rest must be a bug.
