Lync 2010 MP on SCOM 2012 - no servers appear in views RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've imported the Lync 2010 MP and no servers are discovered. The User Guide mentions that there is a Central discovery script.  Are there any issues with this script within the Lync 2010 MP and SCOM 2012 CU2?  There no alerts that indicate a server needs to have agent proxying enabled.

  • For Lync 2010, the Lync admins need to do all the work in order for the servers to be discovered etc.  Send them the guide and have them follow the steps they need to take in order for the SCOM discoveries to work.

  • Like Blake said there are in fact a couple of other layers you need to get configured before the discovery kicks in.

Check out this blog post on the 3 core discovery rules:

    Hint:

    • Make sure Agent Proxy setting is enabled for all Front End Servers in the Pool that contains Central Management Server and also for the server that will be used as synthetic transaction watcher node where synthetic transactions will run from.
    • Make sure that an agent is installed on all the front end servers.

For further troubleshooting tips regarding discovery of the lync servers make sure you check the mp guide on page 11 - 14: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=12375
