Latest SCCM version SCCM CB1606 is the baseline instlaltion, so you can upgrade your SCCM directly from SCCM 2012 SP2 to CB 1606.
download the source file from your VLS or from
https://www.systemcenterdudes.com/step-by-step-sccm-1606-upgrade-guide/
that above link will give the information what is new and how to upgrade.
remember before CB 1606, CB 1511 was the baseline installation so am giving that link also. update procedure is the same.
https://www.systemcenterdudes.com/sccm-1511-upgrade/
so download the CB 1606 and while installation select the current branch instead of LTSB
