Where did the FAST Search Admin GUI go? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I worked on the FAST ESP 5.3 for some time. Then started using the FAST Search for SP 2010,

I am sstill not able to find out how should i access the Admin GUI for 2010. If you remember we have an interface called Admin GUI in ESP 5.3 where we can add collections, stages, pipelines, almost configure everything using the GUI interface. Do we have such thing up here in FAST Search 2010 for SP? If so how do i access it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sumeet

  • Hello Sumeet,

The administration GUI from ESP has not carried over to FS4SP. You can do some management via the Query and Content SSA in SharePoint Central Admin, and the rest is up to either PowerShell commands, command line utils or using the .Net administration API.

I recommend reading the Operations sections on TechNet to get a handle on it all - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff383305.aspx

  • Hi Mikael,

Do you (or anyone else) have any ways of monitoring FS4SP that you find particularily helpfull?

    Some of mine are:

For monitoring Crawling and feeding data to FS4SP: In Performance Monitor add all of the counters under \OSS Search Fast Content Plugin\ for your Sharepoint server. While feeding this can give you a pretty good indication of how far along you are, and you might also detect some problems. Here is a description of the counters: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff383289.aspx#FASTContentPlugin

On your FS4SP server you will have a bunch more indicators to use in Performance Monitor.

The command line tool "indexerinfo" is still available, and you can quickly get an overview of the status by running "indexerinfo status".

    With regards,

    Gunnar
