How to Exceed Sharepoint's Document Threshold of 30 Million? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Are there instances when you can exceed Sharepoint's document threshold of 30 million? Specifically my question relates to on premise deployments of Sharepoint.  If so, what are the ways around it. I know technically you can load more than 30 million documents into Sharepoint; however, speed would be greatly reduced.

First, how many files max can Sharepoint servers handle above the 30 million limit?

Second, if the 30 million document threshold cannot be exceeded, what are ways around this to load more documents into the server? Also what are the shortcomings that come along with work arounds and possibly having more than one document library?

    Thanks in advance.
