SCSM 2012 RTM? RRS feed

  • Question

  • http://www.scsm.se/ touts that the SCSM 2012 RTM has been made available on technet.  Is this true?  I don't have a technet subscription but can see the file details. The filename is mu_system_center_2012_service_manager_x64_dvd_823269.iso.  Hopefully a trial download will be come available soon.

  • Just a side note,

I believe that the upgrade from Trial to "full licensed" is not possible.

    Please, I stand corrected. :)

  • I'm not so sure about that. This is from the official documentation for SCSM 2012 (upgrade guide):

And it seems that you can go from RC eval to RTM select and be licesensed - I haven't tested this though.

  • For SCSM you CAN upgrade your RC Eval to RTM licensed (but supported in production for TAP customers only). And I'm already did it :)

Same for RTM eval to RTM licensed.

  • Hello Anton, I was wondering if you could help with something.

I have a question. Will this operation work if I want to uninstall an Eval version of SCSM 2012 and install the RTM version (and reuse the same DB). I have read that that operation is not supported by Microsoft and I want to ask:
    1. "Not supported" as in, will not work? Or just that I cannot expect Microsoft Support to be involved?
    2. Assuming that it is possible and I am able to do it successfully without Microsoft Support's help, does that mean that Microsoft will never support this SCSM 2012 installation or that they will not support in the uninstall of Eval and re-install of RTM procedure only?

  • Hi,

my understanding is that the trial end date is saved within the database. So you can not reuse it with another full installation of SCSM as it will not remove the trial end date.
