FIM Sync Validation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm using FIM 2010 R2 to sync a CSV file data source with AD. I'm not using the portal sync rules with my CSV data source (all rule config done within the FIM sync service).

I'd like to know if there is any validation I can configure with the FIM sync service application without writing a DLL for a file based CSV data sync?

    Thanks

  • Yes,  data validation: value must be longer than x characters, value must be numeric, value must be alphabetic, etc.

  • I would do the validation prior to importing such file - for example create Temp directory with such file, validate it using PowerShell (would be much easier to change validation rules if needed) and copy to "import" location of that management agent if validation passed. And if not, apply comments to the same file or create log file with your comments.

There is a possibility to check values, but you would have to use other type of management agent (ECMA or ECMA2) for it and validate values using custom code.

  • Considering using mine or Microsoft's Powershell MA. Parsing and validating CSV files using is fairly easy with Powershell
