ESMTP Authentication with Username/Password RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have installed Microsoft Dynamics in our environment and there is an option for it to send emails from within the application on the user's computer.  Unfortunately the application uses the client machine IP address when connecting to the Exchange 2010 server which is assigned via DHCP and I would prefer not to set a static IP address for the machines.

What I would like to do instead is configure an Exchange Receive Connector to use ESMTP Authentication and a username/password that will enable email to be sent.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?  I do not see anywhere in the Exchange Management Console where I can designate credentials to connect.

Screen shot of options from Microsoft Dynamics below.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • The built-in Client receive connector connector listens on port 587.

    Understanding Receive Connectors

Set the Dynamics client to connect to the server that holds the HT role on port 587 and supply the username and password
