SysInternals BgInfo doesn't show network related information like default gateway, DHCP, IP-address, etc. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Our customers use the SysInternals BgInfo tool to visualize important system information on the desktop, they use the current version v4.16 from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897557.aspx and encountered an error on POSReady2009 - BgInfo seems to cannot get network related information from the OS - the area where the default gateway, DHCP or IP-address are shown are empty.
Our distributor (Elbacom Austria, Mr. Wolfang Unger) found out, that it's necessary to copy the DLL 'inetmib1.dll' from a WinXP Prof SP3 ENU OS to ensure that BgInfo can show the network-related information on the desktop.

As I already asked in another thread (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/posready/thread/bf980159-a759-4bd6-b40a-220fdd6c04cc) - is it planned to release an update-package for POSReady2009 which will include all the missing files / tools / ...?

    Thanking you in advance!

    Best regards,

  • Roman,

"inetmib1.dll" is already included in POSReady 2009.  Please make sure that your customer has included the optional component Network Services in thier runtimes.  Your customer can add this optional component to an existing runtime, by going to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Add and Remove Windows components.

I will respond to your prior thread, but please note that the license agreement does NOT allow an OEM to copy a binary from XP Pro or XP Embedded to supply additional functionality to POSReady.  If there is missing functionality that is required, the appropriate process to get this addressesed is to submit an Official Support Request with business justification for why the missing functionality is needed.
