SxS source code for .Net 4.6 for Windows Server 2016 Std? RRS feed

  • Question

  • At work, we have a Windows 2016 VM Server that is our Windows Update server with the WSUS role. This server became corrupt when the iSCSI target hosting the Gen 1 VHD of the 2016 VM server sufferd an unplanned outage.

Since then in server manager of the VM it is saying .Net 4.6 framework is not installed and I have to specify a location for the .Net 4.6 SxS source code! (Like you do when installing .Net 3.5) I have tried specifying C:\Windows\WinSxS  from a healthy 2016 server as the source code in server manager to no avail. Also tried specifying the extracted contents of the C2R .Net 4.6 EXE installer.

As .Net 4.6 is native to server 2016, the standard independent .Net 4.6 installer does not work.

Also all attempts to install any feature related to .Net 4.x through DISM also fails with a “can not downloaded source error”, even if I specify the said WinSxS folder as a source.

How do I fix these issues and what source code do I need to specify?

    Regards:Elliott.
