XP Encrypted folder unable to open in Win7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a folder which was encrypted(right click->properties->advanced->encrypt check box selected) in XP SP3 in D drive. Recently I have upgraded the OS to Win7. Now, I can see the files in the folder but unable to open/read any of its content/s.

    Someone please help me in recovering the same.

  • you should have decrypted the folders before you did a upgarde. its not possible to decrypt the folder now in windows 7.

    can you try this: (backup registry before you do this )

    Go to HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\EFS key

    Choose Edit,New,DWORD Value
    Type EfsConfiguration as the name of the new value
    Double-click the new value and change its value to 0 (zero)
    restart the computer.

    let me know what happens
