  • Question

  • Hello,

I am trying to disable the Administrator account and prevent it from Logging on Automatically when the deployment finish and the machine reboots. However I use the command from MDT Run Command Line : net user Administrator /active:NO ... but it didnt disable the administrator account even after I reboot the machine couple of times.

Please help I need to complete the Windows 10 Image... but my Task sequence is aborting / failing

  • Hello Bassim,

In which state are you running this command? I do something similar with a script to disable the admin account and this runs during STATE RESTORE phase, after Windows Updates task, but before Restore User State task.

What does the BDD log show? Any return codes for that command?

  • Hello,

I have this command as a Run Command Line in the State Restore I put it before the Restore User State and still the same error. Actually; the whole task sequence is aborting and I get a msg at the end that the deployment didnt complete successfully with 12 Errors and 8 Warnings. But I am sorry I should mention that I am trying to create a secondory account

put the account in the local admin group

and disable the administrator account. The task sequence is aborting on this command.

    net user "whatevername" "whateverpassword" /Add

    net localgroup Administrators "whatevername" /Add

  • If you are unfamiliar with MDT, you should start with a simple configuration. Learn how the process works, test a couple deployments. Then work on your scripts and customization after you know that MDT works as intended and you have become a bit more familiar with it.

MDT relies on using the local "Administrator" account to do everything. You can disable it, but do that towards the end of the task sequence if not at the very end, when MDT will no longer need to use the account.
