Conference is disconnected after 15 Minutes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we are using a skype for business server on premise which is connected with a sip-trunk directly to the provider.

So every phone conference is exactly disconnected afar 15 minutes. Normal calls or conferences are working well, it only happens when we use the conference dial in number. (join by phone)

And the disconnect comes exactly 15 minutes after the conference is established. When you are alone in the “meeting room” you can stay for ever.

In the sip-trace I can see that the disconnect is triggered by the skype server who is sending a bye request to the ip address to the provider. (The provider sends an acknowledge and the call is disconnected)

Did anybody have an Idea where this timeout can be configured?

Thanks a lot for the answers (I hope anybody have one)

  • Hello

May be you can check the trunk configuration and see if it requires to enable session timer for your SIP trunk.

May be you can try below as well

    set-cstrunconfiguration -Identity yourtrunk -EnableSessionTimer $true

    About EnableSessionTimer:

Specifies whether the session timer is enabled. Session timers are used to determine whether a particular session is still active.
Note that even if this parameter is set to False, session timers can be applicable if the remote connection has session timer enabled.
In such a case, the Mediation Server will reply to session timer probes from the remote entity.

Also check with your SIP trunkprovider and see if there are any sessiontimer enabled only for conference calls.
If so just ask them to disable the session timer and see the results.

  • Hi sinnloser,

    Agree with Sathish Veerapandian.

we suggest you run Get-CsTrunkConfiguration and check if the session timer is enabled, for your situation, please try to set the sessiontime value to true.
    Also run Set-CsTrunkConfiguration -RTCPActiveCalls $false -RTCPCallsOnHold $false.

  • Hello to everyone,

we activated the session timer and set the two rtcp Parameters to false, but the external callers are still disconnected after exact 15 minutes and 30 seconds. Internal callers are still connected and in the conference. Also an internal call from the Skype System in Austria to the Skype System in USA. It seems that all calls, over the SIP-Trunk, are cancelled. Could it be a setting in the Sip -Trunk Configuration? (actually we have no response from the Provider)

It seams the 15 minute problem and Sip appears not only in my system.

  • Hi sinnloser,

    Thanks for your response.

For this issue, please check if you have correct configuration for your SIP trunk, please refer to

  • Hello,

we was able to solve the Problem.

The Provider, which is also responsible for the  SBC sends a ping on the beginning of the Sip Session. The skype server did not answer, so the Provider makes a fallback from the "special" skype configuration to the global configuration, with the timeout. Now he has changed the configuration so that he didnt send the ping and use the skype configuration always. Sounds crazy but now it works.

Thanks to all for the input.
