Remove the powered off Mailbox server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

During the migration activity(From Physical to Virtual) we have powered off one of our exchange 2007 mailbox server. Due to some miss understanding that server was formatted before uninstalling exchange 2007 mailbox role.

Please suggest how to remove the server from inventory, as it still show the existence of the server in exchange console.

    Please suggest.....

    thanks

  • Bring up another server with the same name - physical or virtual - doesnt matter -  it can be a virtual with 2GB of RAM - doesnt matter.

then recover Exchange on it since its configuration is still in AD.

Once its rebuilt with Exchange on it

Run setup again and gracefully remove Exchange. That is the only supported method.

  • Hi

The manual removal of Exchange 2007 is not supported. I suggest you recover the new exchange server using

Setup /M:RecoverServer , then run Add or Remove Programs to remove Exchange 2007.
