Doubt on the flow of how management packs are distributed to agents RRS feed

  • Question

  • The question I have is on the flow. For instance, there is a rule in MP1 which targets an instance of class "Windows Computer".

    1. Which MP is responsible for discovering class of "Windows Computer"?

    2. How does the order maintain so that discovery of a target class has already been done before running a rule on a subsequent MP that is targeting this class. Who keeps track of this hierarchy?

  • Hi ,

    1) It is take can care by "System Center Internal Library " management pack you can see that in "object dicoveries

    2. There is no such order to be taken care. if a new server is discovered later after creating a rule it will by enabled automatically on the rule/moniter's next refresh

Please mark as answer if this is useful

  • Hi ,

    1) It is taken care by "system center Internal Library " MP , You can see that in Object discoveries

    2) There is no need for the sequence to be taken care. If a new server is discovered after getting a rule is created . It will be enabled on its next refresh automatically. Both are parallel processes.

  • (1) System center internal library is the MP name.

go to authoring tab in scom console --> Management pack objects --> object discoveries.

Then search for "windows computer" , you will get it.

    (2) There is no need to maintain any order. Both Rules/Monitors and object discoveries have their frequency set to run. Usually its in seconds. whenever the next discovery cycle runs, it will discover the object and in the next run cycle of rule/monitor, it implies.

    Hope this helps.

Windows computer is discovered by system center internal Library

SCOM will periodic run discovery script to disocvery target class. Once its object is discovered, all rules and monitors, target for this class will depoly to it newly discovered object. for exisitng object, SCOM will deploy new created rule to its agent.
