Upgrading Moss and PWA RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, i am in the process of upgrading from Moss 2007 and PWA 2007 to 2010.

I actually have a call logged with Microsoft but they seem to have other engagements so this might be quicker.

They instructed me to Move all the DB's, Attach it on the new SQL Server.

Then i create a site for every content DB and ran the following command to link them with a DB:

    • stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://MossServer -databasename wss_content_Inet -databaseserver SQLServer

I don’t know what to do next and can’t keep on waiting for Microsoft. Was only going g to fix an error but they suggested that a upgrade might be quicker but now leaving me hanging mid-air.

Any Proper documentation would also be appreciated.

    Environment:

    Old

    • Moss 2007: server win 2k3, 32 bit
    • SQL Server: SQL 2005 32 Bit

    New

    ·         Moss 2010: Server 2008 R2 64Bit

    ·         SQL Server: SQl Server 2008 R2 64Bit

    Thanks!!

  • Hello TheWall_RSA

I may be completly wrong, but tt sounds like you are doing a migrating without doing a dry run.  You are a brave person. Best of luck!  There are so many gotchas.  I would review the following documentation.

I am not entirely clear why they suggested other ports, because host headers has worked find for me.  I did not use host headers for my Central Admin, but I think that should work fine too.
