Script to remove registry value entries RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I wonder could someone help me please!

I’m trying to get a script that will remove/delete all of the value entries within the Storage2 sub tree of the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2 and only leave the Default value entry.

I tried using the command  delete "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2]" /va /f and that didn't work for me so any suggestions on a bat file, vbs script or .reg file that would clear those values would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bonemister

  • Hi folks,

Thanks for your replies, it does seem to be a Windows 7 registry question in that I want to delete stuff from the reg but I'll perhaps pose the question also in the scripts forum.

I had come across those two sites before and used the following lines from those sites as a .reg file but neither deleted all the contents of the Storage2 registry key for me so any further help would be welcome.  Is there something wrong with the lines of code below or is there another way for me to delete the contents of that key?

    Cheers,

    Tony

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    REG delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2" /va /f

    &

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    -"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2" /va /f

  • Hi Tao,

Unfortunately I couldn't get any of the commands from any of the posts to work. The .reg commands did run but they never actually removed anything from the registry so I'm not really sure why that was.

I'm still testing a solution that I managed to get working but it seems promising.  I created a group policy to delete the Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms key from the HKEY_CURRENT_USER so when I move their a user account into an OU that has this GPO linked to it and get them to log off and on again that removes all of the AutoComplete entires for the user so looks to be what I need.

I'd still like to have a script that does this for me as apposed to a GPO.  Below is what appears in SYSVOL for the GPO - does anyone know is there a way that I can turn that into a script or does it not work that way!

    Cheers,

    Tony
