Creating custom Performance View with specified (filtered) data series RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I've created custom Performance View in my custom MP. It works. It shows tens of data series in Legend section. Each SCOM console user has to choose (select) which series should be visible in the chart. Users have to make their selection on each workstation with SCOM console.

    How can I hardcode in XML definition of this view which data series will be shown by default when the view is loaded?

    Looking forward to any suggestion.

    Best regards,

    BrzWit

    I did not mention, I use SCOM 2007 R2, which does not support widgets.

    XML structure for PerformanceViewType object include following tags defined under the Presentation tag:

    <Series>
           <PerformanceSeriesSettings>
                  <Show></Show>
                  <ScaleFactor></ScaleFactor>
                  <Id></Id>
            </PerformanceSeriesSettings>
    < /Series>

    I believe these tags can be a solution but the question is how to obtain proper IDs for data series.

    Anyone has ever used these tags with success?

  • Hi,

    Would you please try to create a dashboard view and add a performance widget with proper performance counters added in it. In that way we don't need to select counters in legend.

  • Thanks for your reply.

    Do you have any description how to add and configure powershell widget?

    By the way, I made some web searching and found the XML structure for PerformanceViewType object. There are following tags defined under the Presentation tag:

    <Series>
           <PerformanceSeriesSettings>
                  <Show></Show>
                  <ScaleFactor></ScaleFactor>
                  <Id></Id>
            </PerformanceSeriesSettings>
    </Series>

    I believe these tags can be a solution but the question is how to obtain proper IDs for data series.

    Any thoughts on that?
