SCCM implementation - Pre-requisites. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Have Questions on SCCM 2012 implementation, first I will tell the scenario:

    1. There are below domains:

    1. Top Level   Domain
    Management Services
    1. Sub Level Domain

Now based on the above scenario there are three VLANS in the environment: VLAN A, VLAN B, VLAN C

VLAN A : For Infrastructure app servers.

VLAN B : For DB servers.

    VLAN C : DMZ zone.

In this if SCCM DB is in VLAN B and configuration manager is in VLAN A, what pre-requisites should I we need to keep in mind.

  • VLANs are basically not of interest. You can place CM either in the top level or sublevel domain; it can manage clients across domains.

  • One caveat there that I read (if I am reading this correctly), is that Microsoft does not support the site server and database server being in different domains. I am pretty sure I recall that they had to be in the same domain.

Outside that, yes Torsten is correct, that it doesn't matter. As long as the two site systems can communicate successfully, and clients can find their site systems (MP, DP, SUP, etc.), all is good.
