Why the heck is this happening??? This has never happened before and I sure as heck don't know what the heck a recovery key is and why this tablet locked up.

Are you using BitLocker?
Please provide version of Windows you are using.... Windows 7 (with SP1), 8.1, or 10?
And provide make and model name of your tablet.
If you do not have the encryption PIN/Password nor the recovery key then there is no way to recover access to your machine. I am assuming that you are referring to Bitlocker.
