Error when connecting to Oracle database from Excel 2013 Power Query RRS feed

  • Question

  • Experts,

I am not able to connect to Oracle database through power query and receive the error which says recommended provider (Oracle.DataAccess.Client) is not installed.Any suggestions?

Please note I have already intsalled the following components in order to sort out this issue -

    ODAC 12.1.02 x64

    Oracle Client 10.2.03

    But problem remains same.

    I am using Excel 2013.

    Thanks

  • Hi, Ashish,

Could you provide more details on your environment?

    1. What kind of installer were used (xcopy, msi etc?) to install ODAC?

    2. Do you also run x64 excel?

    3. If you click "OK" button, are you able to proceed with default provider?  If not, what error do you get?

    Thanks,

    1. I am not sure as our IT Service Desk did it.Any idea where to check now?

    2. Excel 32 bit

    3. After clicking OK,it proceeds and asks for Server Name.

  • Hi, Ashish,

Please use msi installer to install ODAC x86 version since you are using Excel 32 bit.  You should be able too use the provider after that.

    Thanks,
