Consolidation and migrating GPOs

    Question

  • I am on a project where I have to take about 150 GPOs from 7 domains which are about to be consolidated into one as a prep for W10 migration. For the initial stage (POC) I backed up all GPOs and created migration tables, I was looking into importing all GPOs into SCM for reviewing, reporting and consolidation purposes where neededm however SCM seem to be able to import a single GPO at the time?

    Can anyone recommend a better way for importing amass number of GPOS? Or a better advice on how to handle the overall process?

    TIA

    If you want to prefix all GPOs:

    Get-GPO -all | ? { !( $_.DisplayName.ToString().StartsWith( "CorpPrefix", "CurrentCultureIgnoreCase" ) ) } | % {
     #rename your GPO here
    }

    If you want to rename GPOs that have a specific prefix:

    Get-GPO -all | ? { $_.DisplayName.ToString().StartsWith( "CorpPrefix", "CurrentCultureIgnoreCase" ) } | % {
     #rename your GPO here
    }

  • check out https://sdmsoftware.com/group-policy-management-products/

    I've not used the SDM products myself but they are well known

    Don [doesn't work for MSFT, and they're probably glad about that ;]
