  • You will need to look at your %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log

Here is how to read it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/902093

Most important details are logs. If you are unsure how to post logs or where to find them then reference https://keithga.wordpress.com/2014/10/24/video-mdt-2013-log-files-basics-bdd-log-and-smsts-log/

  • Then it is your wsus server not responding.  You might try FQDN for the WSUS server name.

  • I am able to ping WSUS server.

here we have configured wsus server name as WSUS in DNS with respective their WSUS server name.

  • I'd like to add one issue here with same infra for some locations we are getting manual intervention while deploying OS. All custom settings are configured in DB role.

Pinging the server is different than getting a WSUS response from it.  It would be interesting to see if you can manually get updates from your WSUS server.

  • this is little bit interesting issue.

I disabled pre and post application step from TS. OD deployment went well. after deployment I tried to manually update it went very well with out any error. rest of workstations in infra are patching from same server without any issue.

Another point I'd to add here, I used existing deployment share for deployment I got same issue it stuck at same stage.
