Virtual machine fails to start with "bootmgr missing" when add a second vhd. RRS feed

    I have created a new Virtual Machine which is empty.  When I add a second vhd as Hard Disk 2 which contains an image for building Hard Disk 1, get the message on start up that the bootmgr is missing.  When I remove Hard Disk 2, the Virtual Machine boots as normal into DVD drive (which is bootable and has image loading software on it).

      If you want to use a file instead of a physical DVD, use the .iso format, not .vhd . The OS will then install from the iso as if it was a DVD.
