Sharing an SMTP address across Multiple Contacts

Question
-
Hi
We are in the process of migrating our email system to Exchange 2013 (CU11). We have a few instances where there is a business requirement to have multiple contacts pointing to the same SMTP address.
For example we have one person who is a clerk to several local parish councils. Staff email 'North Parish Council' or 'South Parish Council' and the message goes to the same address. Our current system doesn't like this and we have had to use distribution groups to help get round the issue.
This is not a very tidy solution and we would like to avoid recreating it. Could someone tell me if it is possible to use the same smtp address within multiple contacts in Exchange.
Regards
Darren

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking, so here's what I think the best answers are:
- If you want a user to have multiple unique SMTP Addresses (i.e user@domain.com, firstname.lastname@domain.com, office@domain.com), this you can do.
- If you want multiple users to share the same smtp address. Then that is something that is simply not possible. In that case you will need to stick with Distribution Groups.
Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread

Hi Hinte
Its the 2nd one. I didn't think it was possible but wanted to double check.
Many thanks for confirming things for me.
