SMTP relay from outside of LAN RRS feed

  • Hi, 

    we have fully functional Exchange 2016 on premise, clients are using Outlook and mobile phones via activesync. No IMAP and POP accounts are allowed. Server is in natted network - 443 and 25 are forwarded to Exchange server machine.

    Im trying to how to create smtp server  for backup software, MFC machines which are outside of this network, with basic autentification.

    I appreciate all proposals!

    Maybe the following article could give your some hints to create a SMTP relay connector based on your requirement, it applies to Exchange 2016 also:

  • Hi

    You can create a receive connector that accepts emails on the external hostname and allow the IP based authentication or choose exchange users authentication. Then you may need to authenticate users with exchange email address and password or use anonymous users and the IP list will authenticate the IP addresses allowed.
