NETLOGON AND SYSVOL Missing on AD Server

    Question

  • Good Day,

    I cannot see the NETLOGON and SYSVOL on one of the servers. And tried to fix this using burflags

    But my PDC is missing registry hive

         HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters\Backup/Restore\Process at Startup

    Cannot find this entire line.

    Thank you

  • Hi; you can copy the missing Registry item from another DC, its computer-independent.  Then follow along this article:

  • Hi

     First check the troubleshooting steps;

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/257338/troubleshooting-missing-sysvol-and-netlogon-shares-on-windows-domain-controllers

    then try to perform Non-authoritative restore; http://kpytko.pl/active-directory-domain-services/non-authoritative-sysvol-restore-dfs-r/

    if issue still persist just force demote this problematic DC then perform a metadata cleanup and promote clean install OS server as domain controller again.

    I want to try to restore it without deleting the domain.

  • The Netlogon service could not create server share C:\Windows\SYSVOL\sysvol\INFGRP.LOCAL\SCRIPTS.  The following error occurred:
    The system cannot find the file specified.
