Every time i try and upgrade it stops at initializing and gives me the error message 'A cabinet file necessary for installation can not be trusted. Please verify the Cryptography Services are enabled and the Cabinet file certificate is valid.'

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • Hi,

This issue may occur if the program is not compatible with Windows 7. I suggest installing DirectX with compatibility mode.

Method: Right click the install file -> select Troubleshoot Compatibility  -> Wait a minute and choose Try recommended settings  -> Click Start the program button to install DirectX.

If the issue persists, please refer to the following steps to clean the related files.

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Directx\Websetup folder and delete all contents in this folder.

Note: the Websetup folder is hidden. You need to set "show hidden files and folders".

After that, download the following DirectX and install it to check the result.
