Can a downstream server get approvals from upstream but get the actual updates from Microsoft? RRS feed

    Hi,

    We have two WSUS servers (2016) that are physically located on opposite ends of the country.  The two data centers are connected via a VPN connection.  When I approve updates on the upstream server, it downloads the updates from Microsoft relatively quickly.  However, when I sync the downstream server and it starts downloading from the upstream server, it's very slow due to the bandwidth limits on the VPN connection.

    Is there any way to set this up so the downstream server gets the approvals from the upstream server but then goes online and downloads the files directly from Microsoft instead of from the upstream server?

    Hello,

    It possible to configure the WSUS Downstream Server to download content files directly from Microsoft.

    1. In the left pane of the WSUS Administration Console, click Options.

    2. In Update Files and Languages, click the Update Files tab.

    3. Under "Store update files locally on this server", enable the option "Download files from MIcrosoft Update; do not download from upstream server". This option will be enabled for selection when the server is configured as a downstream server.
