windows 2008 r2 firewall issue RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I'm not sure whether this is the right place to post this, but here goes: I changed the RDP port of my win2008 R2 std server, and I added an incoming firewall rule that specifies to allow any connection to that port from anyone on all profiles (basically it's as wide open on that port as I could make it) and yet looking at the log file, it's still dropping packets hitting that port:

    2011-03-04 12:28:18 DROP TCP 192.168.x.x 192.168.x.x 3778 3388 48 S 2464260596 0 64512 - - - RECEIVE

when I turn off the firewall, everything works properly.

    Anyone have any ideas?!

edit: As it turns out, when I stopped the windows firewall service, then restarted it, it started behaving properly, although I still don't know why a reboot didn't have the same effect...
