MRO 4.0.2 - ?incorrect MRAN repository. and installing on openSuSE 15.2 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Really happy to see Microsoft R Open reach version 4.0.2!

    I have installed on openSuSE LEAP 15.2 so far, but will install onto my Windows machines later...!

    One problem at the moment is that the default CRAN repository setting isn't working for me:

    RevoUtils::getRevoRepos()

    returns

    [1] "https://mran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2020-07-16"

    but trying to use this repo results in errors like...

    > install.packages("tidyverse")
    Warning in install.packages :
      unable to access index for repository https://mran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2020-07-16/src/contrib:
      Line starting '<head><title>Documen ...' is malformed!

    This problem can be *manually* fixed, by using commands like:

    > r <- getOption("repos")
    > r["CRAN"] <- "https://cran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2020-07-16"
    > options(repos = r)

    or by modifying line 23 of /opt/microsoft/ropen/4.0.2/lib64/R/etc/Rprofile.site to:

        r["CRAN"] <- "https://cran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2020-07-16" # RevoUtils::getRevoRepos()

    Other openSuSE installation notes:

    SuSE Linux Enterprise is supported, but not openSuSE directly. I followed the instructions for the SLES install. Before using the install.sh file, I needed to modify line 109 of install.sh to :

    elif  [ "$OS_NAME" == "openSUSE" ]; then
