  • Hi Benno,

what exactly do you want to read from AD?

its only possible in case of custom development - modify the event, which matches to your requirement such as if you need to update your custom field data on a regular basis select such Project service, read the AD values using the PSI and copy it to your custom fields.

the same can apply if there is any lookup table attached with the custom field and need to be filled/updated with the AD values.

to use PSI, i would suggest to start with the Project SDK . it ontains the code and sample to help you start with.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for the reply Khurram. I was trying to get the field called Key Stakeholders where the value is user list from AD. If i am using the lookuptable and adding it manually i need to do it whenever there is a change, thats why i thought of calling it from AD.
    Thanks & Regards, Benno

  • i was suspecting already that it must be for the reason something similar to what you need.

but why are you not using the OOB AD sync option of project server? create a stakeholder group in project server and sync it with your AD stakeholder group to keep it updated. keep the AD field department with the name 'stakeholder', and this field will automatically be copied to your user OOB group field.

this way you will have the group of stakeholder users and also the field contains the value 'stakeholder' to differntiate them from the other users - that in case if you need to read the user based on this data for your workflow or any other custom solution.

Let me know if this helps to you.

  • Check out this solution from CodePlex written for PS 2007 which should work fine for PS 2010: http://ps2007adressync.codeplex.com/
