  • Hi Robert,

    we can't help you without more information.

    Which website are you trying to download from? (website address from your Edge address bar).

    eg. [http://]freevirussoftware.com/rootkit/

    error message CLSID: FX:{b05566ac-fe9c-4368-b302-7cbe11}

    indicates that you are trying to INSTALL a program file not download it.

    I did a web search for that software, but could not find a matching results for that error message. This would suggest that what you are trying to install may be malicious.

    You could try..

    When prompted, choose the option to download the program file, not Run.

    But I would not proceed any further if I was you. We need to know which website you are trying to install from in order to check it out to see if its legit.

    To protect your computer, make sure you have turned on Windows defender Smart screen filter in your Edge web browser. (…)>Settings>View Advanced Settings>Help Protect me from malicious sites and software with Windows Defender Smart Screen... ON.

    Regards.
