Needing to backup Win XP clients with DPM hopefully RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings.  We maintain a number of special purpose XP workstations with software still requiring XP.   We are using System Center DPM 2012r2 on Server 2012r2 as our organizational backup solution.   What are my options to back up these special purpose Windows XP clients?  From what I've been reading, DPM versions later than 2012 cannot deal with Win XP.
I was thinking of the following options:
    1) Get an agent from DPM 2012 which supports XP and install on the XP workstations.  Would DPM 2012r2 be able to backup an XP client using an older agent? if yes, where to get an old DPM agent?
    2) Install Win XP as a virtual machine within Windows 10 for these special purpose stations.
    3) Use non-DPM solution for these Win XP workstations.

Would appreciate any feedback how others may be dealing with a similar need.
    Thank you.
