  • Hi All,

I'm fairly new to MS Project. I've used it a few times for doing multiple large construction projects under one company and didn't have any problems.

Now I'm looking at a specific co-ordination of panels to get made. There are 5-6 jobs at a time and various amounts of panels, each job the panel rate changes. It is broken down nicely into we need to get 439 panels done in August and it takes 7 hrs per panel for job A, etc, etc..

The shop co-coordinator wants to be able to view this monthly and daily. The monthly one has been completed and approved but I'm not getting very far with the daily one. Ex - Job A needs to do 22 panels a day to stay on track for the month of Aug - this also allows us to calculate how many men we would need each day. It also allows us to easily adjust projected end date if we get behind .

Thank you kindly for any help/solutions

  • Your scenario describes production operation and not so much as a project. Project schedule is design for projects and not so much as operations.

With that said, you could create a summary task (panel) with all the sub tasks in each panel and copy/paste the summary task (panel) each time a panel starts or planned to start.

Use the Gantt Chart for what?  If you want us to help you, I would recommend you add more details to your question.  Or are you replying to the original post?  Please let us know and we will try to help you.
