Hello, I am doing an assignment for one of my classes and I am suppose to alter northwinds database, my problem is when I go to generate a database diagram, I get the following error message:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. (Microsoft.VisualStudio.OLE.Interop)

Could someone please help me?

Hi Kinneylea,

For the error message
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. (Microsoft.VisualStudio.OLE.Interop)

It seems that it is a known issue and has been reported on the link below
SMSS crashes when creating new database diagram

To avoid this error, try the 1st workaround mentioned in that issue page. Copy files from another Machine that has SQL Server 2008 or 2012 installed.
