Want to upgrade our SCCM2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We want to upgrade our SCCM2012. It is Version 5.0.7711.0. Can we upgarde it directly to R2 or we needto apply first SPs and then upgrade to R2? When we installed it we used the SQL Excpress? Is there a documentation how to migrate its SQL Express db to an SQL Server? Please HELP!!

Answers

  • Hi,That is the RTM version you need to upgrade it to Sp1 before upgrading it to SP2 and then R2. SQL Express have never been supported for the SCCM Site database, are you sure you are using Express? the setup wizard should stop installations on SQL Express.

  • It's impossible that you are using SQL Express as it's not supported and setup won't even let you install on on Express.

R2 is an "edition" of ConfigMgr which is not free.

The most current update is SP2 or R2SP1 (plus CU1).
