Sharepoint with Project server 2016 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have deployed the sharepoint 2016 server and enabled project server . Our project server services are consuming lot of memory.

    What is the issue.

  • I don't see an issue.

Do your server(s) have sufficient resource to run SharePoint & Project Server?

Do you have lots of Projects processing, lots of resources, etc.?

How many PWA instances did you create?

Seems fine to me, on first glance.

I would recommend each SharePoint / Project Server have a minimum of 16 gigs RAM, in some cases up to 24 Gigs.

If you want to ensure never having any memory pressure, create servers with 32 Gigs RAM  .I have very rarely seen Project Server consume all available RAM on a 32gig box - only when there was some issue and a restart resolved.

Also, minimum recommended CPU cores = 4.  8 is better.

Presuming you want some snappy response times.  Your mileage may vary, as there are many other factors in play.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks, Eric S. Pcubed

  • I agree with ErockP3 comments and I would also add,  PWA may have been running something during the time you were looking.  It could be SAVE, PUBLISH, SharePoint SYNC , RESOURCE SYNC, etc.  I see that it has 8% CPU, so some job is running.
