Word Viewer 2010 downloads and turns out to be Word Viewer 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to upgrade the existing deployed systems in the field. I am building a reference system so I can sysprep it. (Windows XP). I know XP is on the way out, but I have no choice. We presently have Word, Excel and Powerpoint 2003 working. I was able to update Excel and Powerpoint along with installing the translator successfully, but Word Viewer 2010 shows up as Word Viewer 2003. I am able to reproduce this on several other Windows systems so I am quite sure it is not me. Help!

  • Maybe the viewer hasn't changed, other than being capable of opening *.docx files? Did you download the viewer from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/default.aspx?

  • yes! I downloaded the viewer and the translator. and yes It works with 2010 files. Why doesn't someone simply write in the initial documentation how this all works so I don't have to ask stupid questions in the first place. thank you.
