Vista Driver Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I just did a clean install of Vista Business 32 bit. My board is a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 with a AMD Athlon 3200+ 64 bit CPU. I am also running a nVidia GeForce FX 5200, and a CMI 8738 sound card. My question is regarding the chipset driver for my Gigabyte board and my sound card. I cannot find drivers for either.I don't know where to turn for drivers or beta drivers for my board, nothing on Gigabyte's site. I am also looking for a driver or beta driver for my sound card with no luck. I read a thread that stated WinXP drivers can be used, have not tried this (might not be true). I think I am in a not good situation. I hope I don't have to buy a new board and rebuild a new system. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

  • Keeping in mind that this is a Windows 7 forum and that Gigabyte and Nvidia are notoriously bad about legacy support, I'd seriously consider upgrading or sticking with XP SP3 until you can wing getting some newer hardware.

Apparently nForce3 chipsets were incompatible with Vista straight out of the box. LINK

Taking a quick gander under the "Legacy" section at Nvidia , there are no drivers available for Vista or newer, but I did find this ancient beta driver which might have chipset drivers in it...

    Good luck!
