DPM 2012 R2 - Recovery Point alot of data RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running DPM 2012 R2 protecting Windows Server 2012 R2 File servers and every now and then it seems to do a Recovery Point which is a lot larger than normal and causing a back log of backups waiting to fire off.

The recovery point could go through the week of being 8GB per recovery point but then the next day could be 127GB

There is no way there has been 127GB's worth of change to our file servers in a single day, it's happening to one our sites with a few people who access it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Hello!

How are you determining the size of the recovery point? Could you provide screenshots?

    Best regards,

  • I'm going by the data transferred for the recovery point

Start Time    Time Elapsed        Data Transferred

    20/03/2019  36:49:02              259,915.06 MB

    19/03/2019  01:32:22              8,435.19 MB

    18/03/2019  01:41:26              3,827.28 MB

These are backups of a standard file server (Server 2012 R2). Our DPM is setup to backup our Hyper-V VM's via our Hyper-V Hosts.
