Buffer cache space low.will the queries stop running if buffer cache is full.how can i clear the buffer cache? RRS feed

  • the monitoring tool i use shows buffer cache usage where used is-4688.38 MB and remaining space is 1.03 MB.

    please tell me how to manage buffer cache memory

    When i right click on server->properties->memory ->

    min memory 8192

    max memory is set to 27648

    use awe to allocate memory is not checked

    when i run the below query i get a different sql server memory

    SELECT object_name, counter_name, cntr_value AS 'Total Server Memory (KB)'

    FROM sys.dm_os_performance_counters

    WHERE counter_name = 'Total Server Memory (KB)'

    --returns total server memory -1627721728 kb
                                                                                                        

                                                                                                          

    select [bpool_committed] , [bpool_commit_target], [bpool_visible] from sys.dm_os_sys_info;
    the above query gives me the following results.please tell me what to doto increase the cache  buffer size
