Windows 7 & Office 2003 installation issue - please help RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just bought a new Toshiba laptop, which has Windows 7 Home Edition installed on it. I would like to keep this but to install Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 so that I have all the products. Internet searches suggest it should be compatible, but when I try, a message comes up "The product key you entered requires a version of Microsoft Office 97, 2000 or XP to upgrade. If one of these versions of Microsoft Office is not installed on your machine, you will need to supply a version of Microsoft Office on CD-ROM in the next step. Click OK to continue with the upgrade of click Cancel to stop the installation". Then it says it can't locate these products, so it cancels out. How can I get round this to install Office 2003? The CD itself worked fine to upgrade on my old HP laptop.
