App-V for RDS + User Profile Disks not persisting settings RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm running into an odd issue while working in a test environment. I have a single App-V package sequenced for Notepad++. I noticed however that settings were no longer being persisted, after I changed the profile model from local profiles to User Profile Disks.

For some reason, it seems that after this change, packages can no longer write into the VFS.

I started up Powershell within the App-V package (browsed to %SystemRoot%\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe in the Notepad++ File-Open dialog and right clicked it and chose open).

Here is what I can tell:

    PS C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0> cd $ENV:APPDATA
    PS C:\Users\ita-pvz-admin.000\AppData\Roaming> dir

        Directory: C:\Users\ita-pvz-admin.000\AppData\Roaming

I\m getting similar issues when trying to manage the files directly by for example editing config.xml in Notepad++ - I'm not able to save the file within my APPDATA.

Any idea what might be going on here?

    I'm running App-V Client 5.0.10107.0 (App-V 5.0 SP3)

  • For some reason - I don't know why - deleting the user profile VHDX and making it build a new one seems to have gotten rid of the problem.

If it recurs, I'll get back to the thread. No idea what would have made it malfunction to start with though.

  • did you repair/unpublish/remove and readd the package after you made the change to the profile?
