question on heading styles in word 03 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a question on making heading styles in word 03.

I have done as instructed in the following link

    http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/usebuiltinheadingstyles.html

I have created Heading styles for Heading 1, Heading 2, and Heading 3 as follows

    1   Heading 1  <---- for Heading 1

    1.1   Heading 2 <---- for Heading 2

    1.1.1  Heading 3 <---- for Heading 3

It is working for Heading 1 except that when I insert Heading 2, it gives me as follows

    1.1   System Assessment

which is right at this stage but when I press "enter" key to write some texts or paragraphs on the next line, it gives me

1.2   |<-- cursor - waiting for some input from user for Heading 2

What I want it to do is when I press enter key, I want it to wait for my texts or paragraphs, not the Heading 2.

    For example,

    1.1   System Assessment

    | <--- cursor - waiting for some texts to be entered

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Hi

When you modify the style Heading 2, you need to set the option Style for following paragraph to tell Word what style to apply as default to the paragraph that follows the one styled as Heading 2. In this case you probably want to change the option from Heading 2 to Normal, to give you a standard paragraph after your heading.

    Hoe this is useful.
