EPM PWA site migration from production to test environment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Am trying to migrate EPM PWA site from one prod server to another test server.

And to achieve this, am restoring EPM 4 databases + 1 content database from one server to another. Everything except PDP works fine after restoring the databases in new test server.

Please suggest me, what could be the reason ?

  • Sounds like the new PWA site is new and not picking up the content that was in the old PWA site.  Maybe it provisioned a new PWA site over the old one?

I'd recommend a Central Admin farm backup / restore for this scenario.

Alternately, you could use Playbooks to grab the old PDPs from the old environment and move them over - not sure if you would lose the Project:EPT associations if you did that, but worth a shot if you don't want to redo everything.

  • Hi there,

Did you use the same PWA Path name that is used on Prod when provisioning the Test PWA site on the Text farm? The PWA path names must be the same, otherwise you will create a new PWA site and not link to the existing site in the restored content database.

  • What specific error are you getting when you say PDP's do not work?

In adition to what Andrew and Paul suggested, you could also try the following approaches:

    1) Check under Server Settings >> Enterprise project types >> Pick whichever you are using and look under the section: <label for="idEPTPDPAlphaList" id="idLbl_idEPTPDPAlphaList">Available Project Detail Pages. if that is blank, you will need to add the PDPs required.</label>

    2) The powershell commands listed here:
