Start and finish dates change to 1984 when MS 2007 MPP file is saved RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a user reporting that when he saves his MPP file, all the start date and finish date entries are changed to the year 1984

This is MS project 2007 pro client.

I downloaded a free MPP viewer, opened the file, and sure enough all the dates are set to 1984.

Not really sure where to even start with this one.

Beyond this, please tell us which Service Pack and Cumulative Updates have been applied to the user??s copy of Microsoft Project 2007.  Also tell us if you are using Project Server 2007 as well.  Let us know and we will try to help you.

  • That KB seems pretty close, I am having the user review it as well.

What I have found since posting is that the user is saving the MPP file directly to a SharePoint 2007 document library.  And that is when this happens.  If the user saves the file locally, and then uploads to SharePoint via the browser, the issue does not seem to ocurr.

SO we have a basic workaround now.

I will see if the user wants to pursue this further, and if so get the needed info about the client.

  • User has decided that the work around is good enough, does not want to pursue further action.

    THanks for the help!
