Project workspace templates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have recently started using Project server 2007 built on sharepoint wss3. I have been tasked with updating the Project workspace template.

It was already a customised stp when the Project server was installed

I have looked at the link http://www.projectserverhelp.com/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=21 which when when I create it creates the default Microsoft Office Project Workspace.

Is there a way to open the existing customised stp and editing this one then resaving as the newer template??

Thanks in advance for your help

    Karen

  • Sure - create a new workspace from the custom STP.  Just create a new site from Site Settings using that template - not from Project Server.

Modify that site, then save again as an STP.  Register it with Project Server using the STSADM command, and you're good to go.

  • Hi,

Sorry I assume that this need to be from the  sharepoint central administion?  Can you please breaks the steps down down a little (or a lot) of where I need to go to create a new site from a template. Once I've resaved I'm sure I can complete the rest of the steps of registering the new template and selecting this new template in project server. At the moment I just have a stp file that is not link to our share pint

    Thanks

  • Sure - I don't have 2007 in front of me - and it's been a while since I've done this, but as I recall, once you have the STP file, you can upload it as a template to the template library - probably in the Site Collection Site Settings.

Once you've done that, you can go to Site Settings anywhere in your target site collection, and select Create Site.  Choose the template you uploaded.

Modify the template.  Save the template as an STP.  Run the STSADM command to register the template with Project Server.  Go into Project Server Server Settings Workspace Provisioning Settings and set the new default workspace.

....or something like that.  Here's the instructions on MSDN:
