IE 11 Installation fails RRS feed

  • Hi,

    We have some Windows 7 SP1 64-bit systems where IE11 installation is failing.

    - All the pre-requisites for IE11 as per the below link are installed, except for KB2834140

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2847882

    - Tried to manually download and install KB2834140 but the update was not installed. Without this update IE 11 installation is failing

    - Uninstalled IE9 and tried to install the IE 11 but this too failed becuase of the pre-requisite. 

    Please guide on how to get IE11 installed.

    It seems that there exist several necessary updates you haven't installed before installing this KB. We may try to check the update log to see which updates you haven't installed before.

  • IE11_main.log shows that KB2834140 has failed to install.

  • Hi,

        We are having similar issues on server 2008 R2 x64. In addition to KB2834140, KB2533623 will not install. When I tried to manually install it I got the update is not applicable. I tried to install the x64 update and even x86. Maybe for there is a required patch for KB2834140  ? and KB2533623 ?.

    We may try to use Windows update troubleshooter to check the result.

  • Hi Tao,

    We tried to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter but this did not work. We downloaded the standalone installer from the link above. The installer runs and fails.
